new additions as I can see are important.

2 x carriers and 1 x affected which makes this years championship winner a carrier- . shame really. but now it has got "to the top" with a champ winner as I see it- it might induce a whole lot more tests.

not listing names, as last time I did I got shot down by the owners who has another two carriers listed.

Yet only 8 confirmed cases since 2008. I think there's a lot more to learn about this disease before we can begin to understand it or even claim we have an effective testing system.

only 8 correctly diagnosed cases as AMS. a whole lot more misdiagnosed with Acral lick, and more just PTS because it was unknown.

the big thing is the increased testing and the exposure, the more of that, the easier it "should" become to eradicate it from the breed with careful consideration when mating.

The testing system's in place, just need breeders to use it instead of saying their lines are clear when there's absolutely no way of them knowing.

According to FB lots are testing and I'm seeing lots of clear dogs being reported, I saw a few new ones just yesterday, all with top names behind them, one a FTW another a FTCH. To say breeders aren't testing, top kennels aren't testing is no longer true.

Testing aside 8 confirmed cases in 8 years from all the cockers born tells me that there is far more to learn about this disease and much more research is needed.

Confirmed cases 8 that's a fact

You cannot say more were misdiagnosed or destroyed because it was unknown because that's purely guess work and assumption. Research and scientific results are based on fact.

The problem exists, it needs to be addressed but I firmly believe there is very little understanding of it and most of what we are hearing is guess work. Accurate information is needed because it all seems a little grey at the moment.

I was told this week that an affected dog may never display symptoms, if this is the case then there could be lots of affected dogs out there, but if they don't display symptoms then a more accurate test is needed to find truly affected dog.

Dogs tested are a drop in the ocean compared to pups being born so how can you compare?
Why not just test and take all the guess work away?

As I've just pointed out many are taking the test, including top names top dogs and tip affixes.

You don't need to test to read that in the past 8 years there are only 8 confirmed cases of dogs being PTS due to AMS. This to me says much more research is needed, there's lots of hype lots of misinformation being circulated.

My point is, before we start making sweeping statement there is far more that needs to be discovered about this awful disease because as it stands it just doesn't stack up.

So you can put the standard reply of " test your dogs". But that isn't the point of my posts.

My point is far more research is needed on AMS before we can begin to understand and eradicate it. I do not believe we have the full picture and much of what I see is unhelpful to the cause.

Very good that folk are submitting those results. You've got to wonder how many people are staying quiet...hopefully the results will be automatically uploaded soon!

That's my boy Caramello Chomp just tested clear.
