Your post doesn't surprise me Irishtrials but surely you don't believe that just because YOU have never had a dog with PRA, that it doesn't exist? Do you think the eye specialists are wrong when they say they are seeing more and more working bred spaniels going blind? Or are they making it up?

No need to patronise .Why all of a sudden has it become an issue . As i said over 30 years in dogs no issues why all of a sudden are we seeing all these tests .remember they told us that are dogs needed boosters every year for certain diseases and what alot of crap that turned out to be.

Not patronising, just think you're uninformed, these tests have been available for a lot of years, the basic eye test rather than DNA test has been used to detect PRA for a long time, speak to an eye specialist, read the breed records supplement and try and gain more knowledge on the subject rather than slagging it off. I have a friend who had a mother and daughter go blind with PRA, she doesn't think it's a load of bollocks. I was up getting my lab tested a few months ago and I asked the eye specialist about cases of PRA in working springers, he said it was increasing at an alarming rate and he'd just got back from testing a whole litter following the mother showing signs of blindness, two of the pups were affected too. Sad and scary. Do we bury our head in the sand and wait until we see a lot more cases ourselves before reacting?

A scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it.
