I have a JRT bitch that started humping after she was spayed.

I wouldn't spay a young bitch as a matter of course but would do so once a bitch is past breeding age, as Mike and James would. Perhaps the people around me have just been unlucky but I can't think of anyone I know with an old unspayed bitch who hasn't ended up with a pyometra at 9/10 years of age.

The bitch I had spayed at 2 (for medical reasons - her seasons were all over the place and the last one she had she was coming in and out, bleeding on and off for near enough two months of the shooting season) who is now 7 has a shockingly fluffy coat but I just get it all clipped off twice a year and is morbidly obsessed with food (but then she always was a bit of a pig), but hey ho.
