On a different note, is it usual to hunt dogs in that harness getup over there?
I could be wrong but I think the harness is there to hold on the "skid-pan" under the dog ? I have seen similar protection pads used on grouse moors to stop the heather rubbing dogs red raw underneath.

The spaniel in the film was working over lots of deadfall trees so I think the skid-pan probably would have helped prevent injury.

I hope that is not a threat. :o
Absolutely no threat implied Newf. In fact I have no idea where in a very big Province you live. Also I am a very non threatening type of fellow...
Correction: You were - until you went and got a Chessie, CC...

I just posted photos of Chessie in Photo Section. See how threatening you think he looks?

I would introduce her to the ACME 210.5 or 210, It will take your voice out of the relationship. Other wise she should just be fine for a hunting dog.

Thanks Gundogguy and everyone else for your valued input. However, I've moved on from that breeding and have a pup arriving in the fall from Kingsbury Springers in Ontario. This breeder was originally referred by one of your own, Peter May. Those that maybe interested, I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks !

Whistle vs voice would still be the better option as far handling is concerned.

I do use 210.5 on my lab. The guy in the video is the breeder, not me. The handling in the clip wasn't of any concern ; I was hoping the experienced members on here could pick out some natural ability of the dog and not the handler.

If its any consolation I thought she was doing remarkably well given the handicap she was under, nothing intrinsically wrong with the bitch, any dog which is being continually nagged will shut down. Anyway, when's the new baby coming?

Judy, come September, I will be picking up the baby. :42: By then, I should have his room decorated and painted. :08:
