Gutted - I was breed coordinator so have had to make sure my reps know. One couple had bought a caravan specially and as both have limited leave allowance they are high and dry :( , I too have leave booked but long service in the NHS means I am irritated I am wasting leave but it is no biggy.

I am glad they have made the call but what a "summer"!!!!! Mainly my feelings are sympathy for the smaller sellers who are being hit through so many venues.

Its awful my heart goes out to these guys they have invested both time and money with no return.
Heartbreaking for them.

I know how it feels and I understand why the plug has been pulled since I've just spent two nights in a muddy field at the Great Yorkshire Show. Lucky I was showing on day one before the mud really started but when it did it did in a big way. Cars, vans, trailers, horse boxes stuck axle deep and only getting pulled out by the tractors from the show displays. What would happen at CLA I dare not think of the out come.

Very true , with the worst June and July for many a year ( don’t know how long but more than I can remember) is it not better the organisers to prevent the long term damage to the land that most of them don’t own but have access to for the limited period of the event.

I own two horses and they are currently in a 30 acre field which normally sees no impact from the horses over the summer, but this year it is trashed and will take at least a year and a lot of hard work to recover.

As most of our events are country and game events, is it not a responsibility to the stewardship to the land to prevent any undue damage due to the pursuits.

I am not a stick in the mud and spend most of my hard earned cash supporting these events through attendance, but I respect more the decision to prevent the damage and protect the public than to peruse full hardy just on the basis of capital return.

I am sure all landowners will be compensated (in some form) and all traders will be supported by us loyal many.

It is a year that will go in the history books I am sure, so let’s not judge the cancellations, but support our country, our counties and our passion, and i am sure we will still support our traders...
