Unfortunately I'll have to stick with my Grisport boots, which are letting dampness in, on drier days and my Superlite wellies on damper days.
I bought some of these last season but they are too narrow for my feet. Been in the cupboard ever since!
What size???
Sorry only just seen this. I think they were a 42

Well just back from my fitting at Altberg. Service was spot on, the guy there told me all about my problems just by looking at my feet (with my socks on). He knew where was rubbing and everything. He measured me up went away and came back with a pair of 'off the shelf' boots, made a few adjustments with insoles and bingo a comfy, well fitting boots with plenty of ankle support and cushioning :-D
I'm now the proud owner of a pair of Altberg Bergan boots http://www.altberg.co.uk/Web/military_Bergen_brown.jsp and they were in the sale with £50 off!

If anyone considers buy boots from here i would suggest you ring to see what is on offer first ;)

I'll update you in a couple of weeks of how they are once i've broken them in :-D

I have had my miendle dovre boots for 4 years now they are still very comfortable/warm &keep my feet bone dry i wear these with a pair of Deer hunter Hienna trousers (i think thats how you spell it) a bit warm in the spring/summer but superb in winter so having tried most brands over the years these are what i am sticking with.

i see your thinking and quite agree... but, if i spend £200 on a pair of boots and they last me 3 or 4 years then in the long term, it's the same...

In too my third season with the Meindls and not a blip, just one big score across them from a massive thorn bush. I extend the life of mine by wearing these protective over gaitors

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Berghaus-Yeti-A ... 207&sr=8-1

The only part of my boot exposed is the sole, Leather laces etc are all behind goretex and rubber. Takes 10 minutes per boot to fit and you have to boil them in water to soften the rubber to put them on. So I wear them on all season, just leave them on the boot and take them off around April.
