The owners collect Betty this weekend!
She will have had three weeks of 'rehab'.
The owners are committed to a training plan, and the first part of that is when they collect ;)
The aim is to have Betty ,relaxed and calm, and controlled by the owner(s), in the situations and envoirenments she is likely to be in!
She (Betty), will be enrolled in a training class held by a friend of mine, who runs obedience classes closer to the owners home.
This, along with our training plan I am confident that Betty, and the owners will enjoy the rest of this dogs ,previously potential early 'PTS'!
In this human world.

It is tragic that so many dogs are PTS for problems that can be overcome. I look forward to hearing how Betty gets on, will miss seeing videos of her.

Good to hear Zoe,(or the other name you have ;) ) is doing well.
Let us know whats happening?...and the History of course!, I know it has been turbulent.
Glad my clips of Betty are of use. Send you the one in the Supermarket ;) ...Its a hoot

Loving the clips, really helpful and glad to see im on the right track. i havent been given any decent history on her, she was adopted at 11 weeks by a couple with young baby, she was the males dog, male owner hospitalised and need 3 month to recover, they wanted her fostering for this 3 months. She was fostered to one of the gsdr fosterers, ok for 24 hrs then her own male gsd took dislike, then moved to another foster after a few days, lady couldnt cope with her pup behaviour and needed her out, i was called to fetch her from south wales a good 2 half hr journey.

On my journey home I was informed by mobile that the owners had changed their mind and now dont want her back.

I had been told she didnt like men, she loves my husband, chases vehicles - seen a few signs that she might! doesnt really like dogs-she had no choice being put with mine, her best buddy is our cocker pup. She needs boundaries setting and is learning fast. She lives in, i can now open the door with her sitting nicely a distance away and allow visitors in, where before it was hold onto her scruff for dear life, she has even been caught out fast asleep and people can walk in now and shes not fazed by them. Ive started crate training as I cant have her with me 24/7 which she has been and its working fine.

I hope you can train the owners as well as you have rehabbed Betty :-D
Well done

Radar : the bog off Viszla!
Although we are doing work!, there is a bit of play ?

But all the time it has a purpose.

He has settled extremely well ,for being here only a couple of weeks!

He now has some control, and is blending, and understanding the pack.

But he must work independantly, this is where he will shine!....the nurture will bring out the nature of this guy.

This week we will be concentrating on Retrieving, hold and delivery?.which he has some mixed up feelings about?, ie he see's this as his , not ours?,,so we will be backchaining to the hold!, and the delivery.

All the boring stuff is in place, but he dont know that yet?.....all the fun is about to begin.

Next week we are going to a shooting estate, now that the season is over, but there is still plenty of game around,so this one will have all the range to scent, and learn that the game that gets away ,is down to 'Him'! not pointing it.

Thats where the real training starts.I have called on my 'old but trusted alcoholic friend' to bring along Rosie on the same day! (that will cost me another bottle of whisky  ), they are the same age ,so it will be nice to compare ?, and see them both work. ;)
Rosie needs game to get her going, Radar just needs game, because he doesn't know what it is! Yet!

The issues are the same no-matter the breed (imo)....
So> Betty amongst her other issues of being a biter ,of both humans and dogs ,also has a problem/issue with 'bog off'!
The owners have probably done all the things like any other owner of gundog breeds at the early stages 'perhaps'?

Betty has only been here for two weeks, and is now 'just' beginning to enjoy this world of confusing signals and sounds that in her home envoirenment, must have been difficult for an insecure energetic dog that doesn't know any rules or boundaries ,in a calm state!

As a pup, she has obviously been out in the big bad world, and had to create her own 'defence and pleasure'?
And comong back! has only resulted in 'catch me'!?...or worse ! a telling off ;)
Much like many a spaniel or retriever,or even HPR ,on this forum?

Tomorrow, she is out off lead with 'the pack'! ...they will teach her far more than I will!
She has 3 more days here, and we have had her 'up town' every day. Today after her wee excercise in the park!, we walked by a car with two Lhaso Apso's, yapping and barking next to us, Betty looked ,and held her head high, and trotted on.

Tango !
Tango is your preverbial 'Tigger'! she is just full of beans, and full of protein, that is spent with energy, but absolutely no 'brain therapy'!
She is an unguided missile'.
30 kgs of pure lab ,with absolutely no focus!
She has been here for two weeks and to be honest! the first two days she has been on a special diet 'I recommend'! ;)
It's a secret recipe', that I use that not many vets or food manufacturers are aware of

It has all the natural ingredients that the dog in the wild would find, and has absolutely no preservetives!
It has been developed through centuries,in all countries around the world.

So far...we have been able to achieve a routine that the dog understands without 'bouncing five feet up in the air'!
Fit dog ,to do that ehh!?

Videos will be less from me Sonia'!
It appears the written word has more appeal ;) ...or illusion?
Anyway...I have noticed the more I try to get on camera ?,,,I loose the 'instant', for the dog in training!...I must get a 'camera man'!?

There's a thought!?...

I've enjoyed reading this and watching the videos, good to see the theory in practice.
