Well the Pup's mother went off to America this week along with another Lab,So I thought I would push one of her daughters on a bit .
There are many way's to condition the blind retrieve ,but one set up shown here ,you can do yourself, and there is no need for farmers cut crops or hedgelines ,or country paths.
The pup's being born on 6th May are now 6 month old, and coming along nicely according to plan.

My hunting season is mostly over, back to the training

Really cool video (that one was in Sep, Cassie is 5 mo)
1. Why don't you use a 'command' when you send the dog to fetch? You do say 'dead' when taking the dummy...
2. Why do you allow the dog to jump on you? Is it really necessary to get the pup excited?
3. Looks like she knows to sit on whistle signal by that time?
Please spell it out for me, I am a noob

please no cryptic one word answers

, I'd really appreciate it
I really like your style of training

1.I do, you maybe never heard it?, because I just say it,rather than shout it.
2.

Cassie' the second pup in the clip is not as confident as Dee', and she needs a little more encouragement, but she will catch up.
3.It is helped with the arm raised at the same time with the dummy in your hand.

Rascal, see - Canadians are universally known as nice people. Pretty please works
Thanks a lot.
1. I didn't hear the command. What do you use? I hear 'back' in the more resent vids when you train blinds.
2. got it. Do you stop the jumping later? at what age? or is it 'depends'?
3. Do you train sit at home/yard at all? Also, why do you insist on not using a lead for 5-6 months?
and BTW your lead intro videos are private, can't watch them, but you probably know that
and thanks again.
PS I don't know what is it exactly (must be the accent

), but I almost unversally prefer British dog training to the American style. (crackered will fry me for this

)

1.At that age 3-5 month old ,I don't use any one specific command!,because the wee dog doesn't associate with it as a command 'YET' .
When the 'Fun game' is learned, then I formally introduce a consistent command for the cast off'...I use 'Back'.
2.The jumping up is diminished by the pup itself ,rather than a requirement for correction. When the lead work/heel training is introduced, and the elements of the 'fun retrieving retrieving game' are more rewarding to the pup, than jumping up at me.
3. I 'condition' the sit/stay in and around the kennel, before feeding, before door opening, before lead being put on,etc, I very rarely say 'sit' at this stage, only when the pup automatically sits on 'cue' from the hand signal ,will I re-inforce with the 'word'.

ps. I think Crackered has a better disposition than most regarding UK/US

No, they were pre-planted before she was taken out the kennel. I think around the 50 second part of the clip 'I clarify this'?

Thanks, I missed that, I have to watch with the sound low or a labrador starts looking for the person 'clarifying'
