A+E tends to be one of those funny old places where the folk such as yourselves with proper injuries get over looked and it makes me really angry and sometimes embarrassed to work for the NHS

.
A patient can only stay in A+E for so long before they' breach' and have to be found a bed or else sent home and often they do like to wait till the very last minute so your cynicism is well justified.
I will swop two spangles for two labs

Thanks for your understanding - I know it cant be easy but it is a very worthwhile job.
I couldnt even get the loabs to ***k off when I was sat on the floor in pain - dont think there is much chance of loosing them so it will have to be a swop. Mind you a spaniel owner would probably fall over them more than me - being unacustomed to having a dog so close

Get some arnica cream from the chemists it won't take the pain away but it will help with the bruising.

Thanks Bellypig - took some before I even went to A&E - was highly surprised when they listied it as one of the things I should do - that and the fast that they now say rest but keep moving. Was at least expecting a bit of tubi grip!

Hi Bluebell, fellow NHS worker here and yes, I have seen women covered in piercings and tattoos who are 'needle phobic'. Also in these modern times of hot and cold running water why are there so many smelly people???
When I ask about any allergies, I generally mean things I may be about to use, like antibiotics, drugs, plasters or rubber. I don't really want a detailed history about food, the dog next door, and your auntie's cats.
Sorry, I really am very caring most of the time

I can sympathise with anyone who has been clattered into hard by a big ,fast moving dog. I got banged into by my GSP pup of 9 months, he shoulder charged my kneecap ! I went down in the dirt for quite a long time. After x rays the hospital said I'd need a new kneecap but I wouldn't get one for several years yet unless my knee got much worse. I think they're hoping I'll die first and save the NHS some money !
I don't like needles myself and always have to look away if a doc is sticking one in me.

Yet I have watched my own chest being operated on under local anaesthetic , knives and blood don't bother me ........ just needles.

my GSP clatterd me right in the mouth at a similar age, although to be fair she was retrieving a dummy on icy snow, as i was crouched down waiting for the delivery, she attempted to slow down, but in turn speeded up as she came towards me on the ice and hit me smack bang in the mouth, knocked me onto my back and burst both of my lips, and made a couple of my teeth wobbly

after a dazed few seconds i picked myself up and decided that was enough for one day, thankfully it all happned in the middle of no-where so nobody seen me (the most important thing

)

Whilst we're on the subject of crashing into things: my, at the time 5 month, Viz came hurtling towards me as I crouched down with a big winning welcoming smile on my face - he didn't stop in time but my knee did it for him (by accident I hasten to add) and he lay, prostrate on the grass in front of me. He was there for what seemed like an age and then started whinning horribly. Poor lad - he hasn't done it since - they remember what they choose too don't they?!!! No visit to A&E for me but I did think I might have to take Flynn to the vets instead!!

I think all of mine have done something similar at about 10 to 12 months old. I think they are full grown but dont know their own strength or are not quite as coordinated as they will be. I have seen Griff have trouble working out where his legs go a few times lately. Unfortunately I had an unguarded moment..... Hoping (should that be hopping?)to be able to take him for a short stroll tomorow morning as he has definately been bored this morning and looking for trouble, cant wait for OH to wake up and take him for a run before something else happens
I also seem to remember that it is about this time of life that I have threatened the others with rehoming but all turned out to be lovely dogs

aaargh..... bloody facebook 'friends'
I woman added me as a friend a while back to appeared to be a gundog person.
Long history, lots going on in her life of late and she had a springer rehomed via a rescue.
Anyway today she had 2 cocker pups(both litter mate males) and posted some pics and commented how much fun she was going to have bonding and playing with them. I replied how nice and mentioned she might consider playing with each of them one to one to help bonding etc. and wished her luck. next thing she makes out like Ive committed a crime and was quite rude in her reply, so I responded with a mild mannered 'just trying to offer some friendly advice', somneone I dont know replied to her saying he didnt think I was being critical as she claimed and was offering good advice. next thing she's posting a FB message saying 'the gundog world has turned on me blah blah'. final straw she posts another reply saying I had something to do with her last dogs eating problem (which I didnt even know her then) and that I obviously dont care for my dogs and then deleted us from her account (the latter Im glad of given she's obviously a complete fruitloop) meaning I no longer have access to see any subsequent slander.
This individual is a total drama queen and may well be a member on here for all I know (probably some members are 'friends' of hers of FB) I dont know, but why on why can one individual be so abusive and mentally disjointed yet be seen by so many as 'poor xxxx what a hard life they have'. We all have problems in our lives, but theres no need to take it out on innocent bystanders.
upshot is I will be more disciminating as to who I add on facebook from now on. Im NOT cruel or abusive to dogs, infact the total opposite, Im generally very tollerant and willing to help anyone out in need of it, but things like this really make you sit up and think maybe its best not to offer any help to anyone and be totally self centred.

My days....what a nutter she sounds.....what you were suggesting was a very reasonable thing....all for her benefit....some fowk just can't take advice.....I know it can sometimes be difficult when something is in text, rather than verbally....but best off she deleted you....there are a few on mine I wish would go away too.......

You know what kind of dog owner you are...so that is all that matters.
