From a novice point of view DNA testing is a good tool to keep honest breeders honest. A thief will always find a way to cheat. DNA testing might make it tougher on the cheaters and support the honest breeders. My humble opinion is, honesty is the best policy. As humans we can DNA test our blood to see what our heirs have passed to us but we have no control of future generations within society as we can not choose the mate of our children.
We can choose the DNA path of our animals with a course intended. I support kennel club DNA mandated testing of registered breeding stock. Of course back yard breeders will and have always done funny things with breeding. Look at the Labradoodle and designer breeds of today.

I posted this in Sept 2014 - I think we should be pressing the KC to go along the same route!

The Board of Directors redefined The American Kennel Club's leadership role in the world of purebred dogs by being the first all breed registry to require DNA profiles for stud dogs routinely siring litters. Effective for litters whelped on or after July 1, 2000, every sire producing seven or more litters in a lifetime or producing more than three litters in a calendar year must be 'AKC DNA Profiled.' These DNA profiles will be used for genetic identity and for parentage verification, and, thus, will be used to advance issues relating to the integrity of the registry.

As a breeder, I would welcome it if the Kennel Club introduced similar requirements for its Registry.

Not much credibility on the crediblecockers FB page when the threads that raise questions about the Wisdom Panel test and point out the same dog is pure in one pedigree and cross in another go missing!!!!!!!

That's to say the pedigree is as shown on paper. If the rumours are true then his pedigrees cannot be trusted either. I'm sure there's few dogs that have no relevance to the paperwork they were sold with. How gullible some people are!

Maybe so, but if you start taking posts down that have 100+ responses that ask questions then for me some credibility is lost. I'm sure the post would still be there if it hadn't generated as much of a response.

There's talk of a championship winner being the second or third incarnation of the original dog. The chances of that dog being what the papers say is zero. Might not even be by the same springer as the original.

It would be interesting to get some kind of DNA marker for some of the alleged problem dogs. Then everyone would know for sure.

The KC need to step up with a solution in the new year. We are allowing one man to wreck our sport. He's alright. Made a fortune out of all the mugs. Couldn't care less what's left behind.

I don't understand what your saying? You need to name this dog rather than adding to the rumors.
