Hello from Wiltshire
Hello!
Cocoa is my 12 week old Cocker bitch. She is fantastic puppy and is great with our children.
She is my first foray into the world of gun dogs and I am looking forward to starting to train her later in the year. We have had a lesson from a gundog trainer nearby (actually, the lesson was really for my benefit, not Cocoa's!) and I have got plenty of work to do in the next few months to lay the foundations for her future training. She has a great pedigree, so there should be no excuse!
I have already read a lot of interesting things on this forum and will probably have plenty of questions in the future (so please be patient...!).
I am reading "Training the working Spaniel" by Jan Menzies and have just ordered "Work Wonders: Feed your dog raw meaty bones."
I would be really grateful for any help or pointers - if there are any good books to read or important DOs and DON'Ts at this age.
With thanks in advance for your help!
Matt

Thank you everyone.
Ron, I am in the South, near Salisbury. I grew up nearer your neck of the woods - Cirencester.
Cocoa has been a bit "nippy" recently and, having read the article on biting on this forum, I have yelped a couple of times tonight, and that has already had the desired effect!

Welcome Matt.
She looks lovely. I'm just up the road from you near Amesbury. I too have a Liver Cocker bitch - Flyte, just over 18 months. Good luck with her. Who are you using for your training/
