Dog Box

Post by Gavin »

I was intending to look at all the various manufacturers at the CLA... best laid plans and all that.

So, I do need a new box for my Isuzu Rodeo and I'll buy either a Lintran, CAB, Trans K9, Gamehawker or box by Falcon Fabrications.

I know folk that rave about the Trans K9 but for it just seems too heavy...

What would/have you bought?

I've just got a Trans K9 for my birthday and can't fault it. It's easy to lift and put in my car, it makes no noise and looks like it should be easily cleaned

I've had a Trans k9 for around a year now - it still looks good as new (and gets used regularly!! :-D ) Very easy to lift in and out, as mentioned, easy to clean, with drainage holes at the front (and ventilation grids on the side/back) and easy to wipe down surfaces - as I've had to experience lately with getting a young pup used to the car... Handy non slip top for storage of one or two things and they all usually come with a non slip mat to go underneath the box as well as I remember - clips onto the cage door for transport then flops down to cover bumper to prevent scratches. Also, can come with dividers - also very easy to remove and replace, and wipe down. Also, no rattlin in the boot when driving and doesn't seem to get too hot or too cold. And lockable with an integrated lock. I've had quite a few people comment how smart the box looks.

Just realised I sound like a salesperson....  ............ I like my box :)

I recently purchased a Lintran DB2000 for the L200.
It's well made, easy to clean out etc & i had excellent customer service.

I wouldn't bother with the rubber mats as they are too thin and do not offer good value for money, the box it's self though is awesome, more than happy.

If its going to stay put trans k9, if you want to swap it back and forth good old lintran, really like my trans k9 but miss the lightness of the lintran :-|

Lintran! It's white so reflects heat, it's GRP so doesn't get as hot to the touch as metal. Light, doesn't rattle, easy to clean blah blah! One thing to consider is which manufacturer produces the best fit for the vehicle you have, for mine it was Lintran and the lower cost helped too.

I have a CAB box, which is virtually indestructible, however with that comes the weight, OK if your going to leave it in the vehicle but taking it in and out is a pain.

I've used Lintran boxes daily for over 20 years now. I'm on my third box and only changed as the last 2 were Custom built when I changed cars. The others sold like 'hot cakes' on Ebay.....so 10 out of 10 for the products.

As for the service, you have to get them on the right day as sometimes their 'interpersonal skills' can leave a lot to be desired.

Last time I went to pick up my £500+ box the way I was treated was offhand if not downright rude. :snooty:

It was made very clear that my visit was causing them inconvenience despite phoning some days before and allowing them to dictate the best time and day to suit them!

Good manners cost nothing, especially when the loyal customer is handing over the cash :cursing:

I'm very happy with my transk9 box. I take the points on weight and metal but mine is in a van. For cars I can see the advantages of something more lightweight like a lintran.
