Gundog training in Bristol

Post by kristi »

Hi, this is my 1st post!! I am wondering if anyone can recommend any Gundog trainers in the Bristol area. I'd like to do some Gundog training for fun (not expecting to get into shooting or field trials) but would like to learn some basics. I've only found one trainer from The Gundog Club so far and numerous internet searches hasn't found anyone else. Any recommendations?

The reason a dog has so many friends is because he wags his tail more than his tongue!

Thankyou for this. It is a good starting point but really I would like to go with someone that has come recommended, I don't seem to have come across anyone that does Gundog training in this area to ask.

I agree with Alyson on the Bristol & West Working Gundog Society website. Mrs Christine Carpenter takes HPR classes in the Wincanton area and is an excellent trainer. I certainly enjoyed attending her classes and it was very good and instructive.
Very friendly gathering of HPR owners and their dogs and also they accept other gundog breeds as well. You certainly learn a lot and the venue Christine uses is excellent and has a large man made lake to use as well.
I would certainly recommend Christine as a gundog trainer anyday to any gundog owner who wishes to train their dog fully.

Welcome - I can highly recommend Geoff Shore. He has been fantastic in helping me. He is based in Bristol and has access to good training grounds and pen. If you pop his name into Goggle his website should be there.
