Docking tail letter

Post by Jakesharp24 »

Im breeding my ess next month. And having pups docked and dew clawed. Just need a letter from land owner or gamekeeper showing evidence that my bitch has worked on the land. Spoken to the land owner and he's happy to write one just needs me to write up a draft. Thats where i'm stuck! My attempt looked pretty poor and short! Was wondering if anyone has an idea what i need to include? or better still a copy of theres to get some ideas??? Thanks

you could try something like...

To the Veterinarian performing tail docking,

I (Name of Land Owner/Game Keeper) declare that Cocker Spaniel/Springer Spaniels bred and owned by (Name of dog owner) have been and in the future are likely to be used for work in connection with the lawful shooting of animals on an organised game shoot which I am involved with. My position in this shoot is / Should be (game keeper, land occupier (or his agent), club official, shoot organiser) or person with shooting rights.

Yours Sincerely
(Name Of Owner)

Signature of above declarer

Hope this helps

What Mustogril has written is perfect BUT if you haven't bred dogs which have been used you must instead use the phrase about lawful pest control. For some unfathomable reason it is not enough for the bitch to be worked for 'the lawful shooting of animals' it must be 'dogs you have bred'. BUT it can be the bitch who is used for 'lawful pest control'. Go back and look at the post I made the other week linking to the paperwork and write your letter so it fits the exact wording of the docking certificate.

I would think for a tail docking letter you would want to keep it short and without too much of a point.

here's a letter from a land owner it's not been tested yet so any constructive criticism welcome.

I [land owner name] of [land owner address and phone no.] hereby give [your name ] of [your address] full permission, to shoot/hunt all legal vermin species by day and night and game in season by day. He/she may use shotguns, air weapons, dogs and ferrets.

When we bred our litter the vet wanted to see a shotgun certificate to prove the dogs were working gundogs.

you can use the letter in place of a shotgun cert, or vice versa.
