Why, if two dogs are not intended to mate and they somehow get together they will instantly tie and you can bet your bottom dollar pups will come out but when the mating has been planned for over a year and the dates carefully calculated she says 'no way'? Lol. Anyone think ing of putting their dog out to stud...really don't. It's hard work! (Though I've never had such a difficult one to serve as this weeks madame)

That is so true! Years ago, our Collie dog escaped from the house and shot down to the farmyard, where our Collie bitch lived. My dad followed hot on his heels, but it was too late! The deed had been done and we ended up with 5 puppies. Years ago, an elderly friend of mine, who used to breed Show type Cockers, told me the tale of the time she took her bitch to be covered by a Crufts winner. Before she saw her intended husband, she saw his brother and as a result, wouldn't have anything to do with the dog that was supposed to cover her! In the end they had to use the brother!

Vicky - I feel your pain!

Rowan has decided to go to bed because, despite flagging, her amour just wants to lick her ears!

Only 25 years in the planning demolished in three days!

We are going out tomorrow night and leaving them in with candles, a couple of T-bones, a bottle of wine and the adult channel

Nature will take its course!

It's not my bitch Helen, it's a bitch coming to my boy. The trouble is the owner is desperate to have a pup having not mated her last year due to family issues. Rest assured when it's Ru she will be progesterone tested from day 6 onwards, none of this messing about waiting for the bitch to decide if she's fertile!

The first bitch I ever had mated was a lab. I took her to a F.T.Ch. and was told to release her in the stud owners garden. I did and the stud dog was released from his kennel, jumped on board instantly and that was that ! My mother was very fond of my bitch so she asked me how the mating had gone. I told her and she exclaimed in horror, " What ??? Didn't he even look at her face first ?"

you can do nowt about dog preferences. we may pick the best dog or bitch in the world to mate with our bitch or dog, but if they don't like each other...forget it.

All I had to do was wait....she stood fine on day 16!
Hoping this weeks bitch is easier.
