As above, which trousers and jacket do you wear or recommend for a day in the beating line?

if you're new to the sport have a look at the outfit in this link. Its all you need to start & you can add to it as & when you need more.

I'm known for spending an unreasonably long time to select what to wear and bring before heading out (yes, and teased unmercifully about it) but i'm slowly learning to wear layers easily swapped on and off so that is my tip. Not a super thick jacket but instead several layers so you can add or remove a thick fleece depending on weather or if you move or stand still. And of course, nothing fancy which is ripped to pieces first day through the bushes.

I purchased the seeland marsh suit, so far it has withstood very thick brambles, never been wet and even when I got caught on barbed wire it didn't tear.

Lots of layers as one minute your marching up hills through waist high brambles
Then hanging round in the cold!!!

My second season wearing these:

They do get wet - but I don't. Bramble and Whin proof, so far.

Thermal base layer, thin fleece, Deerhunter fleece top. If it's wet, I remover the top fleece and wear a Postie coat. :)

Having put 3 rips in my Seeland keeper jacket (£170ish) in one shoot I decided to go for cheap and cheerful, currently using a tesco jacket (£37) holding up fine so far. Trashed a very nice pair of treggings in 4 shoots so have just managed to find a pair of Jack Pyke leggings lost in the back of a wee fishing tackle shop that look to be the business

Come to the conclusion that buying expensive clobber for beating is a waste of money, so my good stuff is kept back for shooting, tests and picking up, my approach to beating gear is 'disposable'

Can recommend all of Duck Dri clothing. Ive been wearing their stuff for many years Beating and Shooting , etc
Copes easily with dense brambles , thorns etc.
www.duckdri.co.uk

Sadly their website doesn't do their products justice tbh.
'Off the peg' and made to measure, and they'll do repairs if needed. Made in Leicestershire.

Their Over trousers, gaiters and treggings are excellent.

Can be seen at most Game Fairs, but they Fairs are obviously finished for this year else you could have tried some of their clothing on.
