Not been around for a very long time

Post by mugi »

Hi again
Various reasons we dropped off the board - mainly life getting in the way ;)

So I have Chase - almost 7 yr old brit pretty much retired from work due to my mistakes :(
Hope who should be dead as born with megaoesophagus but a cracking working girl almost 4 but too noisy to trial
Ferdi - almost 3 and working through some issues partly from me and partly from being badly bitten in the head
and baby Inaaya another french pointing spaniel but this time a Pont Audemer Spaniel. She is not quite 5 months old and a sweetie

Yay! Welcome back!

Tell us more about the Pont Thingy Spanner then, never heard of them. How did you find that? Is it a HPR? Photos would be good.

Pleased to hear Hope is still going strong, well done.

Hi Sue, I can hardly believe Chase is 7 years old now . It feels like it was only 3-4 years ago I saw him as a puppy in that park in Bridgnorth ! I have only seen pics of your latest breed Sue ,never actually met one , I look forward to meeting her next time I see you. She has just got to be easier to train than the Brittanies !

Take care of yourself.

Frustrated dot com - posted a reply about my "shaggy puppy" and the bloomin internet crashed when I tried to upload a pic so sorry you will not be getting pics yet :brickwall:

So years ago I met the breed and promptly forgot its name but loved the dog I had met. Last year I realised I needed a 4th dog as poor Chase is not allowed to play with Hope and Ferdi (Hope won't let him) and he misses Brice a lot. He has always loved pups so I decided to get him one ... but I didn't really want a 4th brit. A weird circumstance has led me to be friends with a breeder in france who was watching Ferdi grow up before deciding if she would use his sire (the stud has no working credentials although he has done well in the show ring) - she now has the offspring are lovely workers and lookers. But she also breeds this very rare breed and last September I asked her if she would consider letting me have one. She said yes and offered me pick of the girls. Although I can't show or trial Inaaya in the UK she will be out and about so will be seen, hopefully show off her working ability and she will return to france for showing, confirmation, working assessment and maybe trialling with a pro handler and if health tests are ok she will also have a litter in france (no point breeding her here as the blood would be lost from the gene pool in a sense).

She is a very sweet puppy, she arrived the beginning of Nov and now all the brits like her. She is a good retriever and has already picked up partridge, woodcock, hen and cock pheasant, the latter two not by design but they came to hand. Some things she finds scary - she was home reared in a very quiet village and so I am taking it easy with her - the breed is quite easily crushed confidence wise so I am feeling my way really.

This is probably the best online resource about the breed http://pointingdogblog.blogspot.co.uk/2 ... aniel.html

Bill, I am easing off showing in the UK so won't be up for SKC but hope to possibly get your way for grouse in the NY either counting or GPT's ... if all else fails and you come down south for the fishing next year I will make sure you meet her.
