How many people keep thier gundogs inside?

Just wondered how many people keep their dogs inside compared to outside

Is there any advantage to either or just what works for you?

Some do, some don't. A lot of effective dog men/women keep their dogs in runs, some due to necessity as they have many, personally I think it all comes down to how one "understands" the requirements of the dogs and being able to maintain a handle on them. I love my dogs, and choose to live with them. I make sure they understand the rules, and they are clear on what is acceptable. I have some good, sensible friends who keep their dogs in kennels and they are brilliant, effective hunters, consistent FT winners and the dogs love them to bits. So I'd say it depends more on the individual than the dog.

I only have 1 ess at the moment, who lives inside. thinking about getting another 1(if I can save up?) would consider kenneling it, to save the moaning off the wife about the dirt, mud she brings in after are walks or out shooting/beating all day.

Not sure about the benefits either way?

They live inside but I have kennels and do kennel them if I'm out during the day or if they're very mucky. Kennels have heat lamps so they go in there to dry off before coming indoors.

inside at night and out during the day.i have 5 so couldnt keep them in.some people think it make them soft having them in but to me its a load of bull to be honest.

Inside for mine - all 5 of them - muddy I know but for me I feel it is more secure.

even if I am stopping for petrol the dogs if with me are in the cab and bot in the back of the truck as it is not padlocked at the mo.

I keep mine inside but now the house is nearly done will be buying a kennel for him go in after a walk etc. I for sure with the next dog have it living outside.

Inside, party because of security issues with far too much dog theft locally. Best compromise we had was at our previous house, we had a large cool conservatory at the back of the house where the dogs slept at night, went when wet and dirty, when we had guests or when we were out. It was unheated so they kept their good thick coats but were still in view of us a lot of the time so were a part of things.
In a perfect world I would have a dog room in the house, tiled floor and probably a drain in the middle so's I could hose it down!
