I don't think It's just Cockers. My daughters GWP Eric, doesn't have as full a beard and facial hair as his sister. He is also slighter build, hovering around the 25kilo mark, although both parents are on the lighter end of the weight scale for GWPs.

It's probably the same as with Humans where siblings can differ in hight and build, temperament etc. one taking features from a particular ancestor and another taking these characteristics from another from a different branch of the family.

Personally the hairyness would not affect my decision to buy. Temperament would be the main influencing factor.

My springers Buzz and Rowf are half brothers. Buzz is a real woolly bear, whereas Rowf is very smooth and fine coated.

Think your quote says it all!! Wouldn't be put off by the possibility of a fluffy coat...you can invest in a pair of clippers later on if he needs a tidy up! :-D
P.S. He might not even inherit his Dad's thick coat anyway :)

Pessimist!

The only thing I will say re hairy Cockers is burdock! I have two Cockers who only get them on their ears and one hairy one who gets her lugs stuck over her eyes, her elbows stuck to her rib cage, her back legs glued together and, worst of all, her bits stuck to her back legs! She also gets stuck in bramble bushes, other that that she is lovely.

Do you all think I should buy some clippers?

My lad isn't mega hairy but gets a good amount of what I call bum fluff. All I do every now and then is get the clippers on him to trim his feathers and remove the bum fluff just to stop it from getting matted and full of twigs etc. Dead easy to do and I'm sure he does enjoy it.
