pup in rabbit pen

Post by ryanpartridge1 »

guys/girls just wanted your advice on putting a young dog in the rabbit pen..!

my friend is going to take two of his dogs down to a rabbit pen at tip top gundogs its only 15mins from where we live so no problem their.

he has asked if i wanna come and put my cocker pup in for a sniff, run around, play, all fun of course.. she is only going to be 4 months old and i wanted to know what your thoughts are, i have just been doing everything slowly slowly catchey monkey, she sits, recall is good and she brings everything back to me, i am happy with how thing are going. :) but i think it will be too early but i am no expert so need your advice..

my plan is to do a bit more then i am going to see james bawden at bawdenflight for some help, advice, and let him decide what i am doing right but more importantly wrong and go from their.

I wouldn't, unless it will help you to train/increase drive in an area you are having problems. I have put young dogs in one but with a specific goal in mind, not just for a sniff.

Yeah I know what you mean, I'm not going to put her in their as there is still so much to done I think before I get to that stage, but like I say I'm no expert.!
I think I'll wait until I go to James and go from their as I really don't want to ruin her before I even start. Thanks for the reply.

At 4 months I certainly wouldn't.

lots of people do give them a little chase at that age, but if you're not sure about it, don't risk it. James will see you right (and would tell you not to!)
cheers,
Alice.
