Good thread and got me thinking....
Sit (don't use stay, sit means sit till I tell you to do summat else)
Heel
Back (go straight away from me until you find summat or I stop you and.....
On (go left or right at right angles depending on which way I'm pointing)
Lost... (Search there.)
Over (get over an obstacle)
Leave that
Dead (release whatever you've got in yer chops into my hand)
Get in ( car, kennel, ditch etc.)
Get under
Bed
Dogs name when sending on a seen retrieve..
Click of my fingers low to the ground in the direction I want to cast the dog off (hunt signal)
Kissing sound (my version of a clicker sound to indicate "good dog, you made the right choice" accompanied by a treat, not always an edible one though).
Oddly enough I don't have a fetch command...
Whistle signals.....
Short pip to stop
Two pips to turn
Twit ter whooo (hunt there)
Several short pips (recall)
"Wtf do you think you are doing" generally used to interrupt undesirable behaviour and spoken in a gruff tone...
"You little barsteward" is reserved for very serious misdemeanours and is usually accompanied by me approaching the dog with serious intent...
Visual cues...
Open arms accompanied to the recall whistle..
Policeman's halt sign accompanied with the stop whistle.
With the dog sat facing you right arm out indicates the dog to go to it's left and vice versa...
And Naj will love these...
From the heel position my toe pointing in front of the dog in the direction of a blind together with my hand pointing in that direction and sending the dog on a "back" command.. Or...
With the dog sat away from me right arm bowling action indicates the dog to spin on it's left shoulder and go back or vice versa.
Once these visual cues are learnt however normally me just pointing my toe in front of the dog is enough...And me putting my right hand up accompanied by the back command sends the dog spinning on the appropriate shoulder.....
