3 back to back litters

Post by 5pringer »

I bought Jess last November from a well known Spaniel trainer in S.Wales ,he'd only had her a few months ,he bought her he said because he liked her breeding and had a similar bitch which produced FTCH's in the past. He planned to have a litter from her but for some reason ( too many dogs ) he changed his mind and decided to sell her.
I liked the look of her as soon as I saw her and she bonded with me instantly.
She's 4 next month and had hardly anything done with her ,at first I thought she was gun shy,I'd been assured she wasn't, has she closed down the first drive I took her on as we got closer to the guns . I persevered with her taking her closer and closer to a clay shoot each week until she was quite happy hunting her rabbit ball and accepting food .
We were able to do several drives together right at the end of the season , she kept close to me and hunted well.
She's still quite a nervous girl but I'm exposing her to as much socialisation as I can.
I would like a pup from her , I thought she had been bred from before as her undercarriage is quite loose. This afternoon I contacted someone who I thought may know more about her breeding and history ,he advised me to check with the Kennel Club.
I eventually found how to navigate to the progeny section and was dismayed to find she had 3 litters between 4/6/13 and 18/7/14! , no wonder she was very thin when I bought her home.

3 in 13 months, is that possible? Certainly couldn't be registered pups in that space of time. All a bit odd to me.
In life, it is important to know when to stop arguing with people and simply let them be wrong.

They're definitely all on the KC website , 7 pups in the first litter , 4 pups 6 months later and 8 pups in the last litter 7 months later.

Just shows how bad the kc are doesn't it, money before anything
If it was easy it wouldn't be so much fun.

Ridiculous! I would report this to the kennel club?

Section 4 off the kennel club website... No bitch should rear a litter on consecutive seasons, and in any case, must have no more than one litter in any 12 month period

Only applies to licensed breeders, straight from the horses mouth.

Did you not check her out before you bought her. The moment I see something I like I ask for the KC name and look them up together with ancestors and progeny.
If I like what I see I take it further, I wouldn't consider driving to see a dog without background info on it

There's something dodgy going on with paperwork here, there's no physical way this bitch will have had that many litters in that space of time unless she came into season each time within weeks of the pups leaving home. Either the kc have got it wrong or the breeder has registered a litter against her name. I bet you're disappointed, not only in how shy she was when you bought her but also with this discovery, phone the guy and have it out with him!

The breeder should be disgusted with them self, poor bitch at least she's finished earning her keep.

It's quite possible the bitch had these 3 litter in that time. She's just been used as a money making machine which is so sad.
