Derbyshire (North) Training

Post by Beno1978 »

Hi all, I am looking for someone to meet up with for the occasional joint training session which I would hope to be mutually beneficial. I am based in a village near Bakewell and have a 15 month old cocker bitch. If you're local you'll know there are loads of decent places for training.

My little bitch (Daphne) is coming on very well and I've been shooting over her since she was only 11 months old with no problems I.e. No chasing or running in etc. She is quick, stylish and bright (IMO :) ) and my plan is to hopefully run her in novice stakes this coming season.

However, I have a problem! I ran her in a test a few weeks ago and she basically froze. I think all the other dogs and people there really got to her and she basically pottered around rather than hunt, just looking at me all the time, and on retrieves literally went at a snails pace

It seems clear to me that she needs experience of working/training with other dogs and she hasn't had any of that so far, it's just been me and her (even with the shooting).

If anyone's interested let me know!

Cheers

Ben
