A few wobbles from Hester, the 3 year old bitch, but now on day 5 it seems sorted. Anyway, pup pics ...

Welcome Otto! They seem to have bonded rather well already? Good luck with little Otto.

He looks a lovely puppy. I am sure Hester has really taken to him by now. I used to have GSPs, great dogs. What do you do with yours?
Re: New arrival - Otto
Well I'm a novice to the whole gundog thing, though 3 years in with Hester and it feels like I've made just about every mistake that's possible
I remember well my excitement on one of my first posts here when she pegged her first hen in a hedge and returned it to hand
Sum total of the real stuff is a couple of days picking up where I was a nervous wreck in case we spoilt everyones day (we didn't), and then mostly working tests. Started well but got stuck in novice last year despite her being perfectly capable if she wants, has the annoying habit of getting near perfect scores in 3/4 parts, then sudden deafness on one item. I've found her a right handful, bit too much hunt and obstinacy for me to handle. I'm hoping I've found a more biddable pup in Otto, and maybe coupled with me doing some things differently might go a bit better...or I will discover I'm the issue.

I think the male GSPs are easier than the females, they don't argue like the girls! I found that my girls' motto was "Ve 'ave vays of doing vot ve vant"
My male GSP was a true gentleman, unfortunately he was epileptic and died at just 8 years old as a result.
