99% may be but some make better pets than others even so. Also some are considerably easier to train than others, if someone can get a line of easily trained gun dogs with an off switch they'll be on to a winner!

An ordinary "family car" costs many times less than a super sports car. Will the writer of this article/advert also be selling his "lowest common denominator" pups at a greatly reduced price ? Somehow I doubt it.

Doesn't mention actually shooting over them, am I such a rare breed I need protection and possibly government funding to keep me and those like me going

At the moment I have two youngish bitches, a super car brand and what seems to be described as a comfy saloon, the only thing is the supercar has a very limited top speed and the comfy saloon goes like s**** of a shovel!!

A pet model will run in just as easily as a sports model will if you allow it to. And plenty of people own and are happy to pay for an SUV and never go off-road with it. It’s the same with dogs. We seem to have acquired a Badge Car mentality over our choice of dogs and pedigrees  What else could explain the success of the cocker.

The "beauty" of this little visit to cloud cuckoo land is great craic for a Yank or N. American subject of the Empire. For Mr. Randall notes, of British "trialling dogs," presumably Labs amongst them:
Trialling dogs are the supercars of the dog world. They’re hardwired to hunt, and hunt very fast. They are bred to do everything very quickly, with electric energy, explosive power and drive. But as with supercars, it takes a certain skillset and level of experience to handle one. An amateur driver would find it difficult to control a 400bhp Ferrari, in the same way a person without the necessary experience and guidance would struggle with a dog bred for trialling.
And the yang to Mr. Randall's yin are the Yank breeders who import UK field trial-pedigreed Labs and promote them as the calmest if not most "serene" animals in existence - and make it deliciously easy to infer from all that rot that they also come "pre-trained!" (like, from the moment they slide into the whelping box). Love the idea - as exists in cloud cuckoo land, of course - of having it both ways! Maybe an actual Aga (jet burners optional) could come with each pup!
