I expect to be corrected on this as Cockers are not my breed but I believe the DNA test only became available towards the end of 2014, so this is over a time span of about 3 years. Antagene don't send results direct to the KC, only to the owner and the certifying vet, so the owner has to pass on the result to the KC. That probably explains part of the discrepancy with the KC figures, the other factor being that Antagene is testing dogs in the UK and other countries. I would expect Animal Diagnostics being in the UK will probably be testing mainly UK dogs and again I believe results only go to the owner (no requirement for vet certification). Bear in mind that AMS affects Springers too. At the moment it is a rare condition and testing with responsible breeding is the best way to keep it that way.

Just seen on another site, the Antagene AMS results are for British dogs so the discrepancy in the figures is with owners prefering to keep their results confidential. I dont have an issue with that, the owners have paid for the test. But I would have concerns if a known Carrier was being offered for stud as an untested dog.

At least the deluded few can’t kick me off here as they did on FB for asking for answers to simple questions. Same questions I asked two years ago. Strangely they couldn’t answer them then either.
