Struggling to find gundog group in South West

Post by Aimeetess »

I can’t seem to find a ‘gundog group’ in my area. There is a gundog chap who does private and group lessons but they don’t run any fun trial tests, scurries etc. I know a few friends have a local gundog group, they all meet up and sometimes arrange trials as part of a fun competition, go to different locations but seems to be nothing my way. Find lessons a bit repetitive at the same locations, and would do my spaniel good to do a few fun tests/scurries at different locations with a bit of a more serious streak.

Anyone have any ideas? I’m based in the South west, Bath to be exact, if you know of anything within an hour.

Kennel Club have a list of Clubs on their site.

These guys meet on alternate Mondays during the summer http://www.wwgs.org.uk/ near Bruton in Somerset just on your limit of 1hr from Bath (if you live south of bath :) )

Also these https://www.wiltshiregundogclub.com/weekly-training who meet at Frome but I have no experience of them

There are several gundog clubs in the south west, however they dont run tests and trials for fun. the tests are a competitive affair and the trials (when the game season starts) even more so. These clubs do however run training groups which are fun, informative and value for money. The North Devon club holds a fun test and barbeque at the end of the summer training season which is informal and good fun whilst giving experience for those who have yet to run in a competitive test.
