What's a quail plantation? Seems far too many variables to use birds finds as a comparison tool for diet.

Only had a quick scan but seemed to read more fat = more energy and feeding performance kept them in shape better?

However if there not performing all year round they dont need performance food all year round?

I think they were monitoring physical and mental stamina.

As I said, the variables are endless. A less fit dog could have found more birds on the right day.
I always treat studies by pet food companies with suspicion.

Indeed, but it doesn't negate the fact that nutrition is important?
... even a stopped watch is right twice a day, but that doesn't eliminate the fact that some watches are better than others.
Nutrition and good feeding is critical to hunting, and developing a good dog.

No it doesn't, but a dog food company claiming theirs helped dogs find more birds than dogs on similar foods is complete advertising BS.
On another point, is fitness more important than nutrition? I bet dogs on crap diets that work regularly have more stamina than dogs on top food than work intermittently.

I didn't write the article mate. Take from it what you want, I posted it for interests sake as there are a lot of posts about feeding on this site, not to get into a pointless debate about how best to feed a dog. I can only balance it against my own experience - I'm sure you'll do the same.

Is this promotional BS or an independent research paper? Either way it talks a lot of sense. And a member on here who works dogs on many more days than most was involved in extensive testing and monitoring of her dogs throughout a busy season as performance based research for a dog food company developing a sporting dog diet. I can’t see anything wrong with that and would think it the best way of developing and testing a new kibble.

The problem is I would argue it isnt possible to really prove any of them beyond a reason of doubt.

We cant do that with humans never mind our 4 legged animals!
