KM engineering Cabins

Post by DazAllison »

Is anyone using KM engineering cabins in their kennels? And how do you find them? In particular the medium cabins? How do you find them in the winter are they warm enough when the temperature drops, I know they do the bigger cabins with the night heaters but for me they are a bit big for a single spaniel. I have KM panels and rate them highly but I’m looking to re-do the kennels over the next couple of months and after some some feedback on their cabins

I use there cabins/beds for my dogs, I just have cow matt on the floor and the dogs are fine in them even sleeping on top of them in winter at times.

The cabins are great but the material used for the curtains can be deadly if dogs ingest it

Cheers mate, I have already thought about that, a couple of lads I’ve saw have went for the polycarbonate flap and pop riveted some aluminium trims to it to stop them chewing it

We have 2 big ones, our kennels are inside a building so it’s not too cold.

We have 2 labs in one with no issues at all but a big cocker and a lab in another and have to have both doors open because the condensation was really bad and have the lab a bad chest - not sure why this has been a problem but It’s a pain, luckily they are pretty robust dogs.

I’ve also spoken to a few guys who have find the original ones a bit cold in the winter if they are outside, not sure if the design has changed now with insulation etc?

Having said that. They are well made and lasted well so far and I’m not sure what we would buy instead if / when we need something ‘off the shelf’

I've got 3 - 2 large and one small/medium - and I've been very pleased with them. There's no doubt that they're the best value cabins on the market: fair price, solid build, easy to keep clean and warm. I do agree with regards to the curtains and I'd recommend to simply cut them off if you've got a dog which may chew - the curtains are really the only chew-able thing on the cabins.

Mine are outside so they need to keep my dogs warm during the North Yorkshire winters but I will point out that my dogs normally sleep 2 together. It's handy that you can open up the front on warm summer days but also for cleaning. All in all, I've got absolutely no problems recommending the KM cabins and as long as I can't have a 'proper' brick build kennel block then I'll stick to these.
