Spend more time interacting with the dog than reading/writing about it on social media

Watching people with pups on flexi leads when miles from a road or anything remotely dangerous my advice would be - a pup is more frightened of losing you than you are of losing it, if you keep it on a lead all the time when small then all you are teaching it is that "lead on = sort of behave, lead off = do what you want and pay no attention to me". Particularly when they decide it is time to let a pup off the lead more at 9 months old and it is far more confident in itself so doesn't need to listen to them.

In life, it is important to know when to stop arguing with people and simply let them be wrong.

Learn how to engage with the dog and maintain that engagement under increasing levels of distraction and the training bit becomes easy. Engagement breaks before training.

Relax, take your time, be consistent.

That may be three things but it is at least short. ;)

Know what you want from the dog.... if you don't know, the dog has no chance!
