Evening all,

My bitch is getting towards whelping but the past few days has been refusing food. Shes hungry as still asking for food but when the bowl is down shes not interested. Shes been on puppy kibble for a couple weeks to up the calories. Sardines in oil mixed in kept her keen for a couple of meals, then some tray meat stuff did the trick but now if the dry food is in there its a flat refusal.

Chicken thighs tonight vanished in a flash!

Anyone had similar? Is it normal? I’ve only ever had dogs, this is my first bitch so all a bit new!

If anyone has a good recipe to put with the chicken to provide more of a balanced diet please shout up

How close to whelping?

Close PRH, day 56 today. Suppose she could go anytime but shes not showing signs that it is going to happen in the next few hours or anything (from what ive read!). She is just doing a decent impression of an uncomfortable furry hippo.

My bitch had pups in July and ate next to nothing for 48 hours beforehand, so you might be in for a busy weekend! Good luck.

Did she whelp ok?

She did thank you! She held on to them til monday evening…the weekend would have been too convenient Ultrasound operator turned out to have given us a VERY conservative estimate of ‘at least 5’ …she had 12!!
