Hi,
Very happy to be part of this forum as I’m rather new in gundog/retriver training.
I’m a dog trainer doing it as a hobby mainly driven by my lifelong love for dogs.
Started retriever training around 3 years ago and found it exiting and just what I was looking for.
Since than I got mad for Labradors and now ended up with three of them 😅
1 black male turning 6 this year (would call it a dual purpose if you accept the term)
1 chocolate lady (long story why…) turning 4
1 yellow lady turning 2 this month. This is a pure working breed and where I’m putting my biggest effort and learning a lot.
Happy to learn and share some experience
I attach a picture of them… so you know them 😉
Marcello

Welcome to the board. Yes this training lark can be addictive. I don't think there is anything wrong with the term `dual purpose' personally. I think most problems with it stem from it being used as a selling term rather than as a beneficial breeding philosophy. Nice camera work by the way. ;)

Hi,
thanks for the welcome words.
I agree and where my "dual purpose" lab come from is a breeder who has exactly done what you say trying to select the best both from show and working line with great success I believe as they have been doing it for more than 30 years...
Btw my working Lady comes form the same breeder but different approach as they do both.
Thanks for the note on the pictures, it happens that my trainer also takes good pictures :)

Welcome to the forum, nice to have another Lab owner in the group, we've been overrun with Spaniel and HPR owners for too long (with apologies to PRH and Jelinga).

Judy and 4 Cockers. :brickwall:

I've been to Milano last summer, had the greatest 30 000 steps of my life, also the high speed train was a whole experience to get there
