Please don't turn this into a pro/ anti health test rant or a pro/anti ABS rant....it's just for info! The biggest changes affecting gundogs are for ESS.

No, not a rant and it's quite old news that the DNA Fuco test for ESS has been removed from a Requirement to a Recommendation, about a year ago I think. Because the show Breeders have tested and eliminated it from breeding programmes over a ten year period. -still an issue with working lines though.
Similarly, If the BVA put Gonioscopy on the A list, why don't the KC make it a Requirement?
So far as I'm concerned the KC are still shilly shallying - DNA profiling of all breeding stock for instance, still not a Requirement.
But do your own thing, these are Minimum Requirements and Recommendations for the ABS.

I do it anyway but it's not on what Vicky posted.
Why argue among friends?

Quote from KC web site: Upgrade from a recommendation to a requirement – gonioscopy testing.
Perhaps I should have Argumentative Bu**er in my signature as well?
Edited to add or maybe I'm so thick I've missed something obvious?

I looked at the link posted and I do not have any problems if things have changed for the better.
For my ESS, I Litter Screen for MRD when I can,(2 litters) For all, BVA Eyetest and Gonioscopy, DNA test for PRA cord -1, DNA Fucosisosis, DNA PFK, Hip Score and for the younger ones, elbow score. My stud dog now is only available to bitches tested for PRA cord 1 and Fuco.
I know where I am, and why,
Sgurr
Edit I'm just saying already done all that before it became Requirements or Recommendations July 2011. DNA Fuco was in and then out. I'll be interested to see whether a couple of people now stay in the ABS

I was a little confused by the link.
The KC have written :
The updated list of all requirements and recommendations for the Accredited Breeder Scheme can be found at:
http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/downloa ... threqs.pdf
But when you read that it is dated from January, and does not include the updates/changes
Then if you scroll down it shows changes that are not on that link.

Thats because the pdf is dated January and the details have just been upgraded, current changes are listed on the bottom of that page, they are also quoted in Scot-tish's post above.
Just how well is it all policed though?
