Accidents will happen!
Oh well, we managed almost 8years without any major incidents but today Quincy broke a toe while running in the woods. Off to my friend who likes mending such things tomorrow....glad the insurance is picking up the bill
Re: Accidents will happen!
My 11 year old Weim did this a few weeks ago, fortunately it healed in two weeks.
The reason a dog has so many friends is because he wags his tail more than his tongue!

Re: Accidents will happen!
In many cases not a lot! A single, stable crack will mend ell in a semi-rigid cast or a firm bandage for about 4weeks. Not to do things by halves Quincy smashed his into 4 bits! My friend put 3 pins into the intact top and bottom of the bone and joined them externaly ; this holds all the bits in alignment making Q less painful and allowing the bone to mend. It'll be 4-6weeks box rest though
No CLA for Quincy. If I can work out how I'll put up his post op xray!
Re: Accidents will happen!
Fortunately Twig did not do it that badly! (or well depending upon your outlook).
Twig was in a half cast (I hope I have spelled that correctly)
and redressed every 3 days to check for sores etc.
Had to wear collar AND muzzle to prevent destruction.........

Typical.......when I broke my toe all I got was a bit of micropore to stick round it

Me, Ghillie the Champion, Merlin the Mad. Brittanys were bred as poachers dogs.....They were an extension of the old rogue's arm, trained to look innocent and unprepossessing, all the time plotting, thinking, scheming to make game!

I bet you didn't have to wear a buster collar to stop you chewing the tape off.Ghilliegumdrop wrote:Typical.......when I broke my toe all I got was a bit of micropore to stick round it![]()
Inside every springer, no matter how well trained, is an idiot trying to get out

As a handler, its impossible to make your dog perform better than it is, but very easy to make it perform far worse.
