Mitsubishi Motors World Series Gundog Championships come to Lowther!
One of the most popular gundog championships in the UK makes its inaugural appearance at this year’s Lowther Country Fair over 13th and 14th August and brings with it an exciting new format, some fantastic championship displays and some truly stunning awards and prizes too.
Led by gundog organiser Laura Bacon and sponsored by Mitsubishi Motors, the gundog events at Lowther will form a season of championship displays, placing winners from each Countryman Fairs’ event through to compete at the revered Midland Game Fair final in September. Not only will winners get the chance to walk away with the 2011 championship title, qualifiers will also have the opportunity to compete for a brand new Mitsubishi ASX3 worth an amazing £20,000!
Opening the competition up to a whole different audience, this year’s championship welcomes a new format, which will allow more handlers and their dogs the chance to take part and go through at the end of each day of the competition. Organiser Laura explains the new rules: “For 2011, the gundog championship has a slight change to the format regarding the qualifying stages on each day. As we have done at Kelmarsh, Highclere and Sussex, Lowther too will be putting through qualifiers in the Top Spaniel and Top Retriever categories which will open the competition up to a bigger audience and allow more handlers and their dogs to compete for the title.”
Scurry participants and spectators can welcome back firm family favourites to the prestigious event such as the Hoping Hare, Short Fence, Long Retrieve and Up n Over whilst also looking forward to its newest of runs 'Pick 'em at your peril' - a fast and furious scurry for even the quickest of gundogs.
A great championship to take part in or to simply watch, this year's bill promises a fantastic season of competition and, as ever, will crown a new victorious winner for 2011 at the Midland Game Fair in September. To enter just turn up over the weekend and make sure you and your dog confirm your place amongst the winners.
