Article on the state of the modern day springer spaniel

Post by Rothievale »

An excellent article is being published this week (today I think) in the shooting times about the state of the modern day springer spaniel written by Jeremy Organ, a very interesting reading, alot of excellent points that I agree wholeheartedly on and a few home truths. I know it's a crap mag but it's worth a read this week! And to top it off, there is a big photo of Rothievale Ling of Edgegrove in it!

me too. Why can't they sack David Tomlinson (is that his name? you know the one I mean) and give J.O a column?
cheers,

Will it be in the online magazine in a couple of weeks time do you think? I haven't got a chance of getting a copy in Portree as you have to order anything of special interest,

Not sure Enid, I expect so, I can send you a copy if you want? Unfortunately they edited his wording quite a bit so it doesn't have the detail that it did or read as well as it did but the gist is still there.

I enjoyed it, a good article. I would love to know of the 'few diehards with the old bloodlines'.

I wondered if Tywi had got himself into the magazine! I really like springers with a lot of colour. Hope Tywi is doing well for you.

personnaly i dont really get this old versus new argument.when did old become new? .was it on a certain date?.surely the new is the old for they all have the same bloodlines or did the new blood just appear one fatefull day?.is the old blood that the author writes about just a dog with more colour? if so i have seen pictures of 2 ftch studs available today that have lots of colour on them and one of these dogs is a good one.and what kind of person buys a dog because of its colour?.if the old blood was so good why have we got new blood?he then goes on to say that to keep getting success in trials he has had to add new bloodlines into his old bloodlines.why?.the old bloodlines are better,he has already just told us so.how many champions has he made up with his old bloodlines and his mix of old and new in his 25 years trialling?
