Hi All , just looking for your thoughts.

My GSP pup is coming upto 7 months old , i'm still feeding him 3 times a day ( Breakfast , Midday , Evening times )

It would be normal to move him onto a twice daily feed around this age, I'm wondering , does this move to 2 meals a day have any benefits for the Pups growth , wellbeing or is this done purely for our convienence ?

Cheers
Richard

No hard and fast rules regarding feeding. By 6 mths my pups have usually weaned themselves off the midday feed and I carry on feeding twice a day. If your happy feeding 3 times and the pup eats each feed with gusto I would carry on but most would be on 2 feeds by now.

reducing the feeds also usually reduces the number of times they 'go'

Depends on the individual dog really. At 7 months some of mine were still having 3 meals a day. Drake even now sometimes looks for a lunch so I give it to him and he is 2 :-D

I was thinking the along the same lines tbh.
He does love his food at the moment. I'm just curious to hear other owners thoughts :)

My two, Lab 2yrs and Pointer 5yrs are still on 3 meals a day, 7.30am, 5-6pm and a small meal at 10pm.

It's all the Pointer's fault, for some reason his stomach can't cope with the extra amounts of food per meal when dropped to 2 meals, it just goes straight through and his weight drops alarmingly, the Lab's not complaining though!
