Re: pheasant shoot for working gundogs

I put on around 5-10 of these days a year. Initially, they were £30 per gun for three guns plus £20 a head for each game bird, duck, woodcock or hare shot. Rabbits and pigeons etc were free. However, it was always awkward when a rare runner was lost- they felt guilty and so did I. So now, we charge ...

Re: anyone images of cockers with docked tail

Plenty here, cockers and springers http://www.ruralshots.com/Spaniels/HTML/index.htm I love Greg's pictures. Unfortunately, he's got a great knack of being in the right place at the right time :( http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r192/m18wilts/95c2713b1643d466db4fdb20bf4183fe_zps54315427.jpg Lol :...

Re: Talk to me about Springers

The one in the middle is mum, the others brother and sister. The one on the right is even worse put together to be honest. He's too long- to the point that I gave up trying to get him to sit as it's uncomfortable for him unless he really makes an effort to get his pelvis underneath himself so he 'st...

Could you not just mate the tall one to one a bit shorter in the leg if she suits you in every other way?
Yes I suppose I could. I'm just wondering if it's worth it when there's lots of well bred puppies out there.

Re: Talk to me about Springers

No, not Queen Anne ones, just normal legs I suppose. I guess it's just her narrow chest combined with long legs that does it. She's quite stylish but not a nice low action.

Re: Talk to me about Springers

I can be of no help just have a question. What do you mean by her legs are too straight? What disadvantage is this? I thought most people prefer straighter pasterns. It's as much to do with the way they're attached as the actual straightness I suppose. It's not really obvious in the pic above (she'...

Talk to me about Springers

So, I love springers. I've had them for fifteen years and love their drive, their enthusiasm, their speed on scent and their allround abilities. I also love their looks although I am fussy. Not to some stupid show standard but to my own eye- I know what I like. I've had a couple of attempts now at b...

Re: Dog box to fit Defender 90 to fit 4x Springer Spaniels

Would it not be cheaper to just buy a dog guard and let them have the whole back? Put a sheet of ply across the wheel arches so you can store stuff underneath and jobs a good'un :)

Re: Heeling video

 That's brilliant. I seen a three year old lab a local trainer had re-trained recently at a scurry which heeled just like that. However, every test became a blind because the dog wouldn't take it's eyes off him

Thanks for sharing it :)

Re: HUNTING POINTING RETRIEVING

It should be noted that although I have no problem with correct use of e-collars when used by sensible folk who understand that it is not Harry Potter's magic wand.amd use it with a clear understanding of the power they hold in their hands, the collar is not my default setting. I am a purist at hea...
