I would personally go up to 30g 5s or at least 28g particularly for late season birds. Agree Ian. Whilst all loads are personal choice I always use 32g 6's in 12G. I spent sometime looking on just cartridge website at the velocitys. I then worked out individual pellet weights then worked out the ft...

We have two cab boxes, one with draws.
Can't fault either.
Though with draws anything starts getting expensive

If a youngster flushes something out on exercise and decides to give chase and I don't think it is on the whistle properly then I let it go and make no attempt to stop it , it has a bit of fun, possibly learns it cannot catch them anyway but most importantly hasn't learnt to ignore the stop whistle...

In past experience, seeing other peoples dogs who have been trained by throwing them out as you have done can cause a dog to become sticky and constantly looking at the handler expecting something to be thrown. As noted above.. Game options will for most be running out shortly. I'd do nothing and simply extract him from that environment, as mentioned you are essentially setting him up to fail on the stop whistle and stop to flush. I would rather feed saw dust swept off the floor than feed skinners, about the same quality. 😂 :-D Good old FB introduced me to a company called E.Hall, tripe factory sunderland.
