Well we are now six weeks after start of season and she is sleeping a LOT eating better but not as much as usual. She has never been this lethargic before, no signs of being unwell so presumably its still just the hormones ???

If you're concerned, don't waste your time on here where we can't see the dog, get her checked out by a vet.

I am not concerned naj, she is fine just very sleepy. I was just updating the thread.

Well apetite is back today.
Just had a thought. We have been doing a lot of steadiness etc training lately, could it be a case of her being mentally tired ?

It is a possibility. Dogs do get tired when using their minds.

That's what I thought. There are no symptoms of illness.

Apart from tiredness and inappetence As I believe I have said before, bitches are often quieter after a season, just for a few weeks, mine have generally eaten more enthusiastically, as if pregnant, for around 8 or nine weeks then some of them got really picky for a week or two after that, they haven't gone off their food during post oestrus but later when their hormones have settled down again.
Mental stimulation makes them more contented for sure and adult dogs do sleep a lot if there is nothing going on but please don't rely on these comments as a diagnosis, your vet is the only one who can do that with any degree of certainty.
