so even if they were there 3-4 times in the last 2 generations of the pedigree would you still regard it as to much?

I think Its too much and I think but not completly sure the kennel club wouldnt register a pup if it was that closely bred  .
I have been looking on their website but haven't found it yet.

Half Brother to Half Sister is no longer allowed so if the same sire were popping up that often in the first two generations then they wouldn't or, at least, shouldn't. Lets face it they don't appear interested in the dogs' welfare, merely the kitty.

If you had same dog 4 times in the last 2 gens, then youd have to to have half brother/sister matings across the board as the last but one line would be 8 dogs total so 4 sires to 4 bitches, same sire to all bitches would mean resultant sire and bitch are halfbrother/ sister? ...or if the dog in question was the sire of the pup in first gen, the mother would still have had to be his daughter .... I think  ....so surely itd' be 3-4 times in 3 gens in which case thats not so bad? or still too close?

I dont understand breeding COI enough to put a number on that. wish the KC would get their pedigree breeding database online like they keen anouncing, that is meant to give you COI for any planned breeding. :brickwall:

As a handler, its impossible to make your dog perform better than it is, but very easy to make it perform far worse.

When I look at breeding I look at not having the same dog or bitch in the last 3 gen. of the potential puppies. At about the 4th Generation on its not too bad but I dont have much more than one or two by this time in history KC were registering pups that were closely bred so you could find the same dog or bitch 2-3 times between gen 3&5.
