My gripe about films or film series on the T.V. is the way in which the actors talk nowadays. The men either mumble or whisper ....maybe they think it sounds tougher ? Some of the women whine their words out . I can easily make out what most British actors say and I can make out what the older American actors are saying too but the younger ones ....anyone under about 50 ....are often difficult to hear clearly. They should learn to open their mouths and speak clearly.

............ I've even considered buying a hearing aid just to be able to hear the actors on the T.V. !

Since we are on things on tv that annoy us for me me it is the way some sports matches are considered "a crucial match", that is until next season when it all starts again. I find myself shouting at the presenter "no it f****g isn't crucial" particularly when it is two local clubs almost no one watches.
Should I seek help?

I don't often rant, but found my eyebrows aloft seeing the price of pups on FB.

£1,100 for a lab and £850 for a cocker.

Has the world gone mad, or have I just been on a pay-freeze too long? That's almost cocker-poo pricing...!

Its got plain ridiculous recently, price has to go bang at some point when nobody can afford a pup any more. As it is dog pups seem to be hanging around a while, perhaps if they were better priced they might sell better? If you look at old magazines and ratio the prices in the pup adverts then to those now when compared with wages then and now a pup is now efin dear. Mind you, comparing a working pup with a fancy breed or a designer mongrel I guess they are still cheap.

Love your idea of "cheap", Judy.

When I was looking for a pup, I remember there was a chap who had a litter of respectably bred ESS, in the middle of welsh Wales, couldn't shift them at £350/pup. Maybe unlucky timing or folk too lazy to travel. Who knows? I wasn't ready for a spaniel then, but had I have been I'd have put another gallon of gas in the car and driven an extra hour or so.

Moving on, there's a Mrs up the road from me with kids at same school as ours who was asking me a while ago about getting a dog for their family. I recommended rehoming an adult (5-9yo) dog which would give them plenty time with the pet, funds a good cause, and no puppy training (for them to c#ck up).

Couple of months later they spend over £1k on a 8wk old cocker poo thing. Now looking more like a GWP than anything else, it's pulling them around on its harness like a little bugger.

More money than sense in my town.

Relative to two grand for a Bulldog or over a Grand for unregistered French Bulldog pups, Gundogs are cheap!

Makes a change with you lot...

I do actually agree with you, its amazing that some people can breed dogs to sell at sensible prices and others can't, wonder why?

I was working down on the allotment yesterday, when I heard someone slashing back the overgrowth on the footpath that runs along the side and down to the fields below. I was curious as to who was doing it ( usually I end up doing it with the strimmer or hedge trimmer ) And who ever it was seemed to be doing a great job and being thorough, not just the odd cut here and there ;) . When he came up along side I went over to have a word. Immediately I noticed he was using a machete, and I thought to myself, perhaps that was not a good idea. He also had a scarf up over his mouth and nose `bandit stile' although it was obvious to me that it was not for anything more sinister than hay fever protection.
We had a chat and it became obvious he was not from this country by his accent. As a fellow dog walker that uses the path , he was a little bemused as to why the path was not kept better by the authorities/ other users, so decided to do it himself for the benefit of everyone. He was even sure , when others saw what he was doing , perhaps they would make more of an effort and join in. I didn't want to burst his bubble of optimism. So left him to get on with it.
Shortly after he had reached the bottom and finished, and I assumed gone back home ( Which was good for him ;) ) Into the allotment came a police car, passed by me and parked up. Two wpc's got out, and wandered further down the track. I wandered over to see what was up, and they said they have had reports of a man with a machete ! I explained what I had saw and what the guy was doing, just as more officers arrived on the scene.
My rant is what possesses people to make such a spurious report to the police of a good Samaritan, doing something for the benefit of others. Wasting police time in the process. What makes it worse is because of the location and the over growth and line of trees...the only people who would have seen him is the few people that used the path while he was there....all of them were dog walkers ( Probably one of those `mobile phone' dog walkers I hate so much...and now I have another reason to dislike them  )

I hate mobile phones - full stop ! I don't want to sit in a bus or a car or a train having to listen to folk prattle on about nothing at all.
I also dislike people breaking off a conversation with me in order to answer their mobile phone.

My only bit of relief came when that bloody frog tune finally died a death !
