We have a Weimaraner in next week :o , it is a known Howler!,and struggles with the lead like someone catching a swordfish
Doesn't like other dogs that much, and likes to eat anything it picks up,including the dummy
and the owner wants to take it 'shooting'!
I might just film this one from day 1, minute 1 ,as I have the owners consent ;)
This should be fun
Shh!...I'll tell Wullie it's a calm wee thing

I think the weimy breed got a bad deal from it's breeders , both its original founder breeders and its present day breeders.
It was meant to be "man- sharp" originally , that doesn't work well for it in this country. It was never meant to run like, for example, a G.S.P. when hunting but that often is expected of it in this country and in other countries to meet what we now expect from an HPR.

Most weims seem to be hard-mouthed and most weims seem to be a bit "iffy" near other dogs. Since their arrival into Britain they have had the misfortune to take the fancy of show dog breeders and have been bred for generations for what they look like and not for what they can work like. I have seen a few very good "working trials" weimies but I have yet to see a single one at a shoot or at a field trial that I have wanted to take home with me ...... and that included the weimy F.T.Ch. I saw get made up and from which many of todays weimies are descended.

The show and pet dog breeders have done this breed no favours at all. Other Germanic HPR breeds such as the G.S.P. were also originally a bit "man-sharp" and they would kill a cat without thinking twice about it. Luckily for them they "ran" to suit what is expected for work in this country and although they are popular show dogs this breed also has some very strong working lines in which an effort has been made to reduce any aggression towards people or other animals while keeping the breeds hunting abilities very much alive.

To anyone on here with a weimy which hunts like the clappers, is easily controlled, is soft mouthed, does not chew other dogs and which does not yodel I apologise for this post but I can only go by what I see and that is what I have seen for about 30 years.

I'm guessing a young male Polmasie? Weims do have bit of a reputation  think I don't have a real one going by what everyone has said.

I'm looking forward to hearing how this weimar gets on
