Sorry just to clarify, I refer to AMS specifically.

I don't think the KC recognises that as yet? I might be wrong, its not listed on their site. Meanwhile everybody is working in the dark unfortunately. Still, a start will be a list of clears on here! Hopefully we can set one up? Happy to start a thread with lists of AMS clear Cockers, from which we should be able to see parents who are clear or carriers (if I have my genetics right?) if everybody contributes their knowledge of tested dogs it will be a good resource.
In life, it is important to know when to stop arguing with people and simply let them be wrong.

Cheers Andy.

I must say I find it very disappointing given how vocal some people are (and rightly so) over this issue that they're not prepared to stand up and tell us what they know. Though they're happy to complain people aren't testing but then withhold the information they have. Does that make them as bad or worse than those they're secretly criticising?

I'm sorry I don't buy into the test your bitch and it will be ok to use any dog theory. I do not want to produce carriers so want to know what lines are implicated so I can avoid them.

ALL breeding stock needs testing and anyone that says their lines are clear needs to proove it.
Cocker spaniel data base is where you'll find AMS tested cockers, you'll need to register (free) and then do an advanced search.
Everyone that's done the test then needs to send the result to the admin of the site and they'll enter the result.
Unfortunately those that want to use FTCH and FTW won't have much of a choice seeing as there's only a couple that I know have been tested clear and that's Andy Platts Boots and the Whaupleys Tarn.
Simon the pup we got from you is being tested next week!

But unless you know the names of dogs or suspected dogs you're trawling through hundreds of names looking for one that's tested and the results?

If you look at the data base they list affecteds, carriers and clears all by name, click on the dog and view their pedigree, you can go back loads of generations and see the same old dogs In almost every pedigree. It really is a game of roulette!

It sounds like we need to persuade the KC to publish all AMS results.
If they will agree to do that then the lab should send them direct to the KC just the same as is done with several other test results.

There's no way that I, as a mere nobody, would dare to "name and shame" a stud dog as being a "possible" carrier of anything undesirable on a forum.

If you do a search on this site (Gundog Training Forum) for Acral Mutilation Syndrome you'll find names of dogs that were affected and carriers.
The KC are being pressured to add AMS to their list of tests.
