First visit to the sire today. Heavenly is a bit of a slut so she was all game and very eager, she's also very fond of this dog. From the beginning a lot of playing, a bit coy but clearly way interested. We think we got at least one mating but no tie. At the end of 45 minutes Heavenly was standing very well and the male was aiming 'right' but they still didn't quite manage to get a tie, we both think it's a few days too early, it's the ninth day. More coffee and another try tomorrow morning. :-)

Also the sire's first mating 5 weeks ago have been fruitful, she's clearly in whelp, good good!

Not sure if i wrote something about this but the amusing part is, the sire is four, got impeccable pedigree (really, ALL red) and brilliant merits himself. Still he got no requests. The very second i announced i would use him he got 3 more requests, all from brilliant bitches, some champions even. We are all happy! The breeder of the sire explained it with some odd 'no one used him despite everything looking brilliant so people think something must be wrong', is it this bad with choosing a sire, that popularity makes people overlook brilliant dogs just because they aren't used before?

You will always get a large number of people only using sires that they feel will simply help to sell the pups rather than breeding for the best pups they can.
If it was easy it wouldn't be so much fun.
