Muffin was sired by Rivington Glensaugh Glean, an influential sire in himself. Rivington was an influential kennel of its day, along with O'vara. Glensaugh Glean sired 9 FTCH, Muffin sired 10, which were a lot for their time. Hales Smut famously carried on the O'Vara blood through his father, Conygree Simon.
The Markdown (and Rivington) affixes have long since disappeared, as so many have, along with their owners.
Is there any breed where you could look at a championship winner of 52 years ago and see no difference to modern dogs whatsoever? I wouldn't have thought so...
Disregarding Championship winners there are a few so called dual purpose breeds which still resemble those of 50 years ago but those bred purely for work or show probably not and does it really matter anyway? As long as the dogs are put together right and still capable of doing the job they were bred for of course.
In life, it is important to know when to stop arguing with people and simply let them be wrong.
Some of the HPR breeds have very recent field and show Champions. I think brittanies have two at the moment ....but mine's aint one of them !

.
But is the difference between dogs of today & 40 - 50 years or more that marked? You see old photos of Joe Greatorex with some of the O'Vara dogs & they aren't particularly big dogs. Aren't there any dogs of substance on the trial's scene today? The dog in Jame's avatar is handsome & looks to be a good size, unless James is very small . Surely there are others.
