Re: Eating rabbit Part Two

Thanks very much for all the comments and advice. The "leave it" command is coming on well now and I am learning to be firmer with her. She seems quite a sensitive wee thing and I don't want to frighten her but now that she's growing up a bit more, I think that she can take a more robust a...

Re: Eating rabbit Part Two

I think that is something I need to make much more of, Wullie. Thing is, I don't want to start giving her a treat in return for whatever she has that I want her to give to me. So far I've trained her without use of treats at all as she is very responsive to voice and tennis balls!

Eating rabbit Part Two

Having been reassured about the puppy eating long dead rabbit, I'm now horrified as she has just found a much more recently deceased baby bunny and, though she brought it back to me initially, would not give it up and, when she realised that I was keen on having it, she ran off with it and eventuall...

Re: Eating rabbits

Thank s for the video link -really useful. Happily the pup is crate trained so, when I heard her crying just before 6:30 this morning and got down to find that she'd had a tummy catastrophe, the foul smelling mess was at least contained and relatively easy to deal with. Sadly, she does not associate...

Re: Eating rabbits

Thanks for all the comments - much appreciated. Will work on the reliable "leave it" command but not too hopeful about achieving success anytime soon!

Re: Eating rabbits

Thank you - that's most reassuring although you've voiced my own concerns about the reappearance on the carpet!

Eating rabbits

On our walk this afternoon the nearly 8 month old cocker pup came across a fairly long-dead baby rabbit and, before I realised what it was she had got hold of, she had crunched it up and eaten the whole thing. I am not at all sure that I could have stopped her even if I'd seen what was happening soo...

Re: Entire dog

Not sure but think he would have ignored it. He stopped but didn't sit! In the house he is totally focused on me e.g. follows me around, will often lie at/on my feet. Outside he also seems pretty focused on me until he sees/hears another dog and then it's as if I've never done any work with him at a...

Re: Entire dog

Thank you for all the replies. I must admit that I am feeling pretty despondent at the moment as it seems that all of the training I have been doing over the past four years has gone out of the window. This morning I took him out for his first walk and kept him on the lead walking to heel until we g...

Just looking for thoughts on the latest problem with the flatcoat! He's now four and has not been castrated. About a month ago he spent nearly a week in close proximity to a bitch in season. When he came home he was all over the place, sniffing everywhere, off his food and generally very distracted....
