fab! so glad to hear the joint aid and metacam are having a positive effect, it was quite shocking to see how much my oldie perked up once he was on them! You may have mentioned this earlier and I missed it, but what are you feeding him? I found switching Monty onto a specific 'fat and old' (well, 'light and senior' really!) was helpful too.
cheers,
Alice.

Merlin's currently on the Burgess Senior food. Admittedly we had him on a bog standard food for years up until very recently *guilty face*. I'm not sure whether it's had a significant improvement as he's always had a cast iron gut xD

Just an update: Merlin has dropped to 29.6kg. He's on Metacam and Joint-Aid now and is doing very well on it. We're staying on top of the amount of treats he is getting and we're getting out for around 40mins every day (which is enough for him as he's pooped after!)

Just an update as I've been quiet a little while.

Merlin has lost almost 4kg by now, having dropped from 31kg to 27.4kg and we're on a solid pain management plan with flexible dosing of Metacam, complimented with a Joint-Aid supplement.

I'm going to keep at it for now as I'm hoping to get him down a little more (he's a big Springer, so not too much more!) but I'm pleased to report that all in all we're seeing a very positive turn around and a Springer who is much healthier and active. And much less grumpy!

Great news, glad all is going well. My old dog is now on tramadol as well as metacam, joint aid etc, but he's bright eyes and bushy tailed so hopefully he'll be with us a while longer :)
cheers,
Alice.
