Slip lead

Post by dandogman »

Which slip lead type/brand is your preference?

I need a new one and wondered what you all use.

the one I dont lose is the preferred brand! :-D  i dont think many people on here have a preference as the aim of the game is to have your dog off the lead (even heeling off the lead)! Ive even seen gamekeepers use baling twine & a soft drink ring pull as an interim fix!
Too many Springers, and Roxie the black cocker.

Local petshop or sporting saint, usually. I'm more interested in what colour it is, rather than the brand.

KJK Ropeworks. Very nice soft rope, although some colours are softer than others. Load of different lengths and thicknesses. I have a couple of 8mm ones in my car for when I need to introduce a new dog to a slip-lead. Otherwise I use 6mm ones on my two, because they fit easily in my back pocket when out on walks.

I like a thick braided type rather than the barleytwist rope ones, find them easier on my hand. Prefer to have the dogs off-lead but as we've moved into a village and are right on the main road its not always an option. Got 2 leads for Bryn, same colour and braid but one is a slip for everyday and the other a standard for his classes.

I like the thin white turner Richie one when working. As its in my pockets 95% of the time, and it dose not take up as much room as the thicker ones I have.
