Thanks very much for the suggestions - we're looking at them all and going to decide how to do it this weekend. What are 'duck eggs'?countrryboy wrote:Just looked at ur photo again (tidy job) with ur posts being on the outside shoud make it a lot easier, i would just put insulators on the posts which should give u 3" clearance to net, use 2.5mm HT wire pull nice and tight. Either use duck eggs at corners or buy some lengths off insulator pipe to keep wire running, better with duck eggs thou
Problem u might find with that horsey tape is hard tp pull tight and it will catch more wind possibly blowing into fence and shorting

In life, it is important to know when to stop arguing with people and simply let them be wrong.

Duck eggs are those white (sometimes other colours too, to be fair) insulator things u put at the ends of a piece of wire, u'll see them near to strainers, if u check Rutland online should see wot i'm talking about
Probably easier to pull each side individually and put a butterfly/radisuer in middle than pulling whole lot in oner unless u have got proper wire pullers, but pulling round corners is never great even with 2.5.
Just an other idea to consider, if u have high badger numbers in ur general area might be worth putting 1 elec wire close to ground, a badger would easy dig push against ur bottom rabbit net as i'm guessing turned in oppisate way, big problem is u will have to keep grass killed of below wire with round up to stop it shorting (not a good idea to strimnext to pens, know somone who put massive holes all along his bueatiful new pheasant pen doing that, easier done than u think)

If you put your wire waist high on the posts do you think the cats would jump over it? i'd go for 2 wires 1 at about 8 inches high and 1 waist high if you think the it'll keep the cats out! i always used to spray around my pens every couple of months to keep the weeds at bay too!
